Passing of Father Leon Buni

Father Leon Buni, Holy Innocents’ Parochial Vicar and Hospital Chaplain, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019.

Father Buni was born July 3, 1950, in Panay, Capiz, Philippines. He prepared for the priesthood in St. Pius X Seminary, Roxas City, and St. Vincent Major Seminary, both in the Philippines. He was ordained March 19, 1975, in Immaculate Concepcion Cathedral, Roxas City, by Bishop Antonio F. Frondosa, and served in the Philippines until 1986, when he was assigned to the United States and served in several parishes in the Diocese of Trenton. Before coming to Holy Innocents, Father Buni served in St. Dominic Parish, Brick Town; St. Mary Parish, New Monmouth; St. Mary of the Lake Parish, Lakewood; St. Barnabas Parish, Bayville; St. Raphael Parish, Hamilton; St. Joseph Parish, Toms River; St. Benedict Parish, Holmdel; Christ the King Parish, Long Branch and St. Joan of Arc, Marlton.

Father Leon’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at 11 A.M., here at Holy Innocents Church with calling hours beforehand.
