Holy Innocents Church in Neptune, NJ is seeking a part-time Coordinator of Religious Education. The qualified candidate will determine and strategically plan the faith formational needs for Religious Education and RCIA ministries for the community under the direction of the Pastor.

The Coordinator will work closely with the Pastor to fulfill the responsibilities of organizing and implementing the faith formational needs of the community. The main responsibility will be the parish religious education program, to engage, teach, and form young Catholics, including sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation. The individual will be responsible for implementing various models of formation for families and students. The Candidate must be able to recruit, train and lead a team of catechists, which is essential to the mission of faith formation.

Job Qualifications:

  • Candidates are required to have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education or a related field; if the candidate has a degree in another field, they will be required to join and complete the Diocesan Leadership Program for Parish Catechetical Leaders. To effectively carry out the job the candidate must have proven leadership skills, effective oral and written communication skills and be comfortable with interacting with families and ministering to their needs. Capabilities in program development, education, and catechist development are required.
  • Technological proficiency is essential, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Google Suite, social media platforms, and database management.
  • The candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, living life from the heart of the Church as a faithful disciple.
