Dear Parishioners,
We are sad to see the passing of Pope Francis. His pastoral care of the Church, bold proclamation of the Gospel, and care for the marginalized will be missed by the Church who mourns his loss. In memory of him, I would like to share with you a series of quotes that I think we can all appreciate.
“The Lord never tires of forgiving. It is we who tire of asking for forgiveness.”
“A little bit of mercy makes the world less cold and more just.”
“Too often we participate in the globalization of indifference. May we strive instead to live global solidarity.”
“The destruction of the human environment is extremely serious, not only because God has entrusted the world to us men and women, but because human life is itself a gift which must be defended from various forms of debasement.”
“God’s love calls us to move beyond fear. We ask God for the courage to put on faith, hope and love as we go out into the world and become the word in body as well as spirit.”
“The current financial crisis can make us overlook the fact that it originated in a profound human crisis: the denial of the primacy of the human person. We have created new idols. The worship of the ancient golden calf (Ex 32:1-35) has returned in a new and ruthless guise in the idolatry of money and the dictatorship of an impersonal economic lacking a truly human purpose”
“I have heard that it is in fashion, or at least customary, in the first months of pregnancy to have certain exams, to see whether the baby is not well, or has some problems. The first proposal in that case is: ‘Shall we do away with it?’ The murder of children. In the last century the entire world was scandalized over what the Nazis were doing to maintain the purity of the race. Today we do the same thing, but with white gloves.”
“No family drops down from heaven perfectly formed; families need constantly to grow and mature in the ability to love.” “Let us never forget that authentic power is service.”
On May 7th, a Conclave will begin to elect a New Pope. Please, pray that the Cardinals listen to the Holy Spirit and choose a good Holy Father to guide the Church.
God Bless!
