Week of January 7, 2018

Dear Parishioners,

I just have some brief notes I would like to share as we begin this wonderful New Year. First, thank you to everyone who gave gifts to myself and the Church over Ctoddcarterpriest@gmail.comhristmas and to everyone who volunteered their time and talents to make sure that all the liturgies went well. This goes especially to everyone who decorated and who played music. May you all continue to give glory to God with your talents.

Second, as some of you may know, Ed Sawicki who normally is charge of decorating the Church would like to retire from this duty. So, if you would be interested in helping to decorate the Church for future holy days and seasons, feel free to contact me. We thank Ed for his many years of service.

Third, I am very glad that the Latin Mass on our Parish’s feast day was so well attended. When I initially scheduled the Mass, I knew it was short notice and we would not get a big crowd. So, I was very pleasantly surprised to see many people from the community come out to celebrate. Many people have asked me whether or not we will make the Traditional Latin Mass a regular part of our parish life. I am open to this idea. But, we really need to recruit altar boys who would be willing to learn to serve this form of the Mass. So, if you know any who would be willing to learn, feel free to contact me. In the mean time, I will plan Latin Masses for special events since now it is evident to me that there are people in this parish who have devotion to this form of the liturgy.

Fourth, I am beginning a new weekly Bible Study that will meet on Mondays at 5:30 pm in the school conference room. It begins January 22nd and it is about the Gospel of Mark. We will be using the Ignatius Study Bible as our main text and for the questions and notes in it.

Fifth, please contact us soon if you would like to go to the Washington, D.C. March for Life on our bus! The earlier we have a head count the easier it is to plan.

God bless and Happy New Year!

Fr. Carter
