Fr.MikeIIDear brothers and sisters,

This weekend is such a special time of the year since we celebrate not only Mother’s Day, but also our Parish children receiving First Holy Communion. Let us make sure to take time to thank and pray for those special women whom we call Mom. Our Moms help us to understand what love is by the way they care for us and we need to remember to be thankful for all they are for us and what they do for us. It is amazing how they inspire and guide us, and help us to understand what it means to be loved unconditionally. Their influence is so important because they love us in success and failure. They are so special to us and it’s important that we take a day to remember how great they are. St John Paul II lost his mother at an early age and then prayed to the Blessed Mother that she would be his earthly mother from then on. This gives all of us whose moms have gone on to eternal life a great example of faith and hope because we can pray that same prayer and put our mom’s face on the mother of Jesus. This is His will since even as he hung on the cross he said to St. John, “Behold your Mother.” Let us always remember these great women whom we love so much.

We also welcome all of our children who will join us at the Altar of the Eucharist this week. Their parents have guided them to this very important moment in their faith lives. Our Lord feeds them with His Body and Blood to give them food for their journey. Let us pray that they will receive Him in humility and joy. Now they are sharing in one of the greatest gifts God has given us, His very love incarnate. Please pray that this First Communion will call them into a loving relationship with Jesus. Congratulations to our First Communicants, their parents and their catechists.

Peace,

Fr. Mike
