Dear Parishioners,

First, I would like to thank Carol Maliff, the Pastoral Council and everyone else who worked hard to make sure the Parish 60th Anniversary Dinner went well. It was great to see so many people come out as well as many of the priests who served the parish in the past. Everyone who went had a wonderful time. (Pictures of the event can be found on our parish website.) Thanks again to everyone who made it happen.

Second, I have some quick updates on upcoming parish events. Each one of these could be an article in itself. But, I am trying to keep it brief for the sake of space.

  • Bible Study On September 9th at 5:30 pm in the school conference room, we will begin a new weekly Bible Study on the Gospel of John. Feel free to let me know if you would like to attend this group and I can give you more details.
  • Reading Group On September 12th at 7 pm, I will start a new book for the Reading Group. This group meets about twice a month, so please contact me for the exact dates. We will be reading “Search and Rescue: How to Bring Your Family and Friends Into or Back Into the Catholic Church” by Patrick Madrid. I think we all have love ones who are far from the faith and this book will be a big help.
  • Traditional Latin Mass We will continue our Latin Masses on the first Wednesdays of the next few months at 6 pm. The dates are September 4th, October 2nd, November 6th and December 4th. Furthermore, the Mass on September 4th will be a Sung Mass dedicated to St. Joseph. Christa Dalmazio and Fr. Michael DeSaye will be our cantors. The chants of the Mass are so incredibly lovely that it feels like you are in heaven. I hope that many of you come out to see the beauty of this form of the mass.
  • Preparing for the Parish Feast Day As many of you may know, I have said Mass in the Extraordinary Form for the last two years on the Parish Feast Day (December 28th). With barely a month of preparation, I was able to pull together a volunteer choir, servers and advertise the event. And, each one of these Masses were well attended despite the late notice. This year, I would like to see if what we could accomplish if we tried. So, after the Latin Mass on September 4th (at about 7 pm), I would like to have a meeting in the chapel about how people can help out with preparing for this Parish Feast Day.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me a toddcarterpriest@gmail.com or call the Parish Office x114.

God bless!

Father Carter
