Dear Parishioners,

Now that we are allowed to have meetings again after the long break during Covid, I would like to try something new that I am sure many of you will love. We are going to start a new Bible Study on Wednesday nights in the Church called Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible. This series is from the Great Adventure Bible Study and is meant to be a shorter introduction to the entire series. Here is how it is described on their website:

Many Catholics want to read the Bible but get bogged down by the long stretches that seem not to make sense or get lost among the sea of Old Testament names and places. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible, an eight-part Bible study, helps you uncover the story woven throughout Scripture, so you can get the “big picture” of the Bible and understand what it’s all about. Aided by a unique color-coded Bible Timeline TM Chart that arranges the key people, places, and events of the Bible in chronological order, Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible will help you pick up the Bible with confidence and understand how you fit into God’s plan.

Holy Innocents Church will begin the Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible study on October 6th at 7 pm in the Church. Participants will meet every week to view an engaging video presentation followed by a time of lively group discussion and fellowship. For more information or to register, visit ascensionpress.com, or contact Kim DiBiase at bible@holyinnocentschurch.net. We will also have registrations at the weekend Masses of August 28- 29, September 11-12 and September 18-19, where you can also pick up the materials.

I am looking forward to seeing how all of this turns out since I have heard so many great things about this series. It takes a narrative approach to scripture that I think will really help people understand what is going on. And once people understand scripture, it will help them understand everything else about our faith.

God bless!

Fr. Carter

P.S. On a completely different note, I am also going to bring back Parish Board Game night in the Cafeteria on August 27th at 5pm. I’ll talk about this more in the future. But I am sure some of you would like to attend this event. It is a great time for those of us who enjoy board games and the company of good people.

P.P.S. 2nd Reminder: This Saturday, August 14th, the daily mass will be at 8:30am, not 9am. Thank you!
