Week of February 14, 2021

Dear Parishioners,

Lent is coming up and I would like to tell you about some of the things that we are doing in the parish to experience this holy season.

This Wednesday, February 17th, is Ash Wednesday. There are two big changes this year. First, we will have two Mass times (9 am and 7 pm) and two times that will just be a service (7 am and 12:10 Noontime). We are doing it this way to put less of a strain on the priests. And really most people who come would just like to receive ashes. Second, we will be distributing ashes at the end of each Mass and service as people are leaving (as per the Bishop’s instructions). In previous years, we distributed ashes right after the Homily.

Every Friday of Lent we will have the Stations of the Cross at 6 pm in the church. Please note the time change since previous years it was at a later time. Also, since we cannot distribute booklets for the Stations, we will be using the Stations found in the back of the Pew Missal.

I will be offering Traditional Latin Mass for the First Saturday of March (the 6th) at 9 am. We will be taking a break from these in April because of the Easter Triduum, and May because of First Holy Communions.

I will be offering Traditional Latin Masses on Sunday, February 21st and March 21st at 3 pm.

Confession will be made available after every Mass and at the normal time on Saturdays (2:30 to 3:30 pm). Also, I will be hearing confessions Thursday, March 25th, 6 pm to 7 pm. All confessions will be heard in the chapel to provide social distance for those who desire it.

Palm Sunday is March 28th. Palms will be available at the end of every Mass. We are not allowed to distribute them before or during the Mass.

Lastly, Lent concludes with the Easter Triduum. So, feel free to come out to Holy Thursday evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper at 7 pm, Good Friday Solemn Liturgy service at 3 pm and the Easter Vigil at 8 pm on Holy Saturday.

God bless!

Fr. Carter
