Dear Parishioners,
Last week, I made some comments about the recent financial letter. I wrote about how the parish needs to make ends meet and also the need to renovate Building 2, the former Spiritual Center. I just have two more things I want to mention about these topics.
First, the parish needs more money in order to not depend on our rental income. I am going to discuss with our Finance Council what needs to be done. However, it seems inevitable to me that we will have to do an increased giving campaign in the fall. I do not like focusing on money so much. Yet, it is necessary for the stability of the parish for us to talk about these issues. Also, some efforts are being made by certain members of the parish to do fundraising. But I will announce these things as plans become more solidified. Feel free to reach out if you would like to help with these activities.
Second, since it is good to have goals in mind, I wanted to share with you exactly what I would do with Building 2 if the parish had enough money. First, I would bring the building up to code, have handicap entrances and better bathrooms. Second, I would create more usable space by knocking down some walls to turn single-room bedrooms into meeting areas. Third, I would make the dowry facing the Church the main entrance and make parking right outside that door. This would be very useful since it’s a ground level entrance that goes directly into the chapel. Fourth, I would make the chapel available to people to pray in any time they want with the Blessed Sacrament present. Fifth, I would attempt to rent out the building and actually make money for the parish. Lastly, I would want to move the Church offices into that building.
Now, would this be something desirable to the parish? Feel free to let me know.
God Bless!
Fr. Carter
