Dear Parishioners,

I would like to take a moment to update you on some of the improvements we have been making at our parish.

  • Spiritual Center: We are in the process of cleaning out the Spiritual Center and converting it to parish purposes. We have completed the first stage of throwing out all the junk that was left over (mostly bed frames and other unwanted furniture). We have already started using the space for the Bible Study, Latin Mass, Game Night and CARE Class. We have plans in the future to possibly rent half the building to Charter School and create other entrances and parking for Church use.
  • Chapel: The Chapel in the Spiritual Center has seen great improvements with the installation of pews that were originally in the choir loft of the gym (when the gym was the Church) and a platform for an altar. We’re currently using it for our monthly Latin Mass. (3pm 3rd Sunday.) But the plan is to also use it for a Eucharistic Chapel in the future.
  • Gazebo: The most obvious recent change to our parish grounds is the addition of the Gazebo in front of the Church. This will be a great place to gather in warmer months. Seats are on their way soon.
  • Shrubs: We are continuously working to add more shrubs, especially around the school.
  • Fixing various damage: Many of the buildings on the campus needed work for their long-term use. I am currently most worried about the roof of the church and we should begin work on that as soon as prices of material come down. The roof is over 30 years old and original to the Church. So, we are long overdue for it to be replaced.

As a final note, I am also going to update you on the canopy: I have ordered and received canopy poles and have hired the person who made the parish vestments (the ones with the image of the Holy Innocents on the back on the chasuble that we used for Palm Sunday) to make the canopy. The total project is going to cost $2,000 and we have already received $350 in donations. So, if anyone would like to donate toward the canopy, I would appreciate it. It will be used for a Eucharistic Procession at the Noon Mass on the Feast of Corpus Christi, which falls on June 11th this year.

God bless!

Fr. Carter
