Week of November 20, 2022

Categories:

Dear Parishioners,

I just have a couple reminders for this week’s bulletn.

  • Thank you to everyone who donated to St. Vincent de Paul’s Thanksgiving food drive and thanks to everyone who helped run it. We are helping so many families this year and I’m sure they all appreciate it as well. During December, they will have their Giving Tree Christmas Program.
  • This Saturday, November 26th is the 11th Anniversary Mass for the Traditonal Latin Mass in our Diocese. The Mass is at 6 pm with a banquet to follow. (Tickets are $25 for the dinner.) Feel free to come join us in celebratng our Catholic heritage. If anyone would like to prepare or learn about this form of the Mass, I would suggest looking up youtube videos like “A Beginner’s Guide to The Traditional Latin Mass – How to Attend” by the Religious Hippie on youtube or “How to Easily Grasp The Latin Mass: A Step-by-Step Guide” by reverentcatholicmass.com or “LIFT UP YOUR HEARTS: 10 TIPS FOR NEWCOMERS TO THE LATIN MASS” on the Catholic Gentleman blog.
  • December 3rd at 6:30 am, we will have a Rorate Mass, which is something new to our parish. Rorate Masses are an Advent Tradition to honor our lady in the Advent season. It is done before the sun rises and the church is only lit by candle because she bore the Light of the World. The Mass will be a Latin Mass with Gregorian chant that will replace our normal first Saturday Traditonal Latin mass. So, the 9 am Mass will be a normal Ordinary form Mass.
  • December 8th is the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligaton. Mass tmes are 5:30 pm vigil, 7 am, 9 am, 12:10 pm and 7 pm. The Immaculate Conception is our belief that the Blessed Virgin Mary was without sin from the tme of her conception throughout her life. It does not mean that Jesus was conceived since that is called the Incarnaton of Our Lord. There’s no Eucharistc Adoraton that day.
  • December 15th from 6 pm until 7 pm, I will be hearing confessions in the confessional in the chapel. Eucharistic Adoration will be happening at the same time.
  • December 16th will be the normal monthly Game Night in the cafeteria at 6 pm. Also, the Filipino Community will be celebrating the Simbang Gabi also at 6 pm in the Church that evening.
  • December 17th at 7 pm, there will be a Lessons and Carols Choir Concert. Come celebrate the Advent season. Christa and the choir have been working really hard on this, so I hope you can attend. A free-will offering will be taken.
  • And of course December 25th is Christmas. The Mass schedule is as follows Vigil Masses: 4 pm, 6 pm and Midnight. Day Mass- es: 8 am, 10 am, 12 Noon.
  • Lastly, December 28th at 7 pm will be our Feast of the Holy Innocents Mass. Every year I say a Traditional Latin Mass in celebration of the Patrons of our parish.

So many great things are happening here in our parish, and I thank you for your support!

God bless!

Fr. Carter
