Week of May 2, 2021

Dear Parishioners,

I have two pieces of news for this week’s letter:

First, I would like to welcome the new tenants of our school building: the College Achieve Charter School. It has been quite the journey to having them finally move in. But after meeting all the requirements of the township, I am very glad to have them as our tenants.

College Achieve is a K-12 public charter school which operates in Asbury Park, Plainfield and Patterson. Their vision is to provide an education for their students which will enable them to excel in college and become community leaders. These goals are compatible with our faith and we are happy to provide a building for them to expand their program. I am also glad that our school building will be utilized for the purpose it was intended.

Second, as announced at last week’s Masses, Ascension Thursday has been transferred to Sunday, May 16th for all Dioceses in New Jersey. That means Thursday, May 13th, is not a Holy Day of Obligation and there will be no additional Mass times other than the 9 am Masses on Wednesday, May 12th & Thursday, May 13th. While many parts of the country already celebrate the Ascension on Sunday, I personally hope that this is only a temporary change due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Please note that the Mass intention that was on the 5:30 pm Vigil Mass for May 12th has been transferred to the 9 am Mass on that same date. The Mass intention that was on the 12:10 Noontime Mass for May 13th has been transferred to the 9 am Mass on that same date. We apologize for any inconvenience.

God bless,

Fr. Carter
