Dear Parishioners,
This week, before all the Masses, we will be hearing from a young person who is going to serve the next year as a missionary in Wichita. I have given her permission to speak at all the Masses because she has been a parishioner here her whole life and her family is very involved in our church. I have spoken so often about the importance of missionary work in the world and so I am hoping that some of you will find the generosity in your hearts to help her answer this call she is receiving from God to bring Christ to others. Here is a message from Sarah explaining all of this in her own words:
My name is Sarah Lynch, member of Holy Innocents Church and recent college graduate. I am honored to share that I recently accepted a position as a missionary with Vagabond Missions at one of their Wichita, Kansas sites. Vagabond is a Catholic outreach organization whose mission is to break the cycle of hopelessness in inner-city communities, specifically with teenagers. By meeting teens where they are at, Vagabond seeks to form intentional relationships with them and introduce them to the Gospel and the hope that only Jesus Christ can provide. As missionaries, we aim to encounter God through prayer, Mass, adoration, the Sacraments, and Scriptures. Since its founding, Vagabond has touched over four thousand lives and over one hundred and fifty teens have entered the Church. Devoting my time exclusively to serving others sounded really attractive to me, and it is the perfect time for me to do so in this new chapter of my life. As I embark on this journey, I humbly ask you to remember me and other missionaries in your daily prayers.
Sarah will be available after all the Masses this weekend if anyone would like to speak to her about her missionary work.
God bless!
Fr. Carter
