Week of June 18, 2023

Dear Parishioners,

I am very happy that we were all able to worship the Body and Blood of Our Lord in a Eucharistic Procession last week. I would like to thank everyone who made it possible. First, I would like to thank the deacons for helping to coordinate. Second, I would like to thank the knights and ushers who provided the color guard and pole bearers. Third, I’d like to thank the altar servers for taking on the most complicated role of serving the procession. Fourth, I would like to thank the choir for beautifully providing music. And lastly, I would like to thank all the faithful for attending and praying. This really was a huge group effort, and I am so glad we could pull it off.

Sometimes we can have the misconception that the liturgy is all about the priest. However, we must always remember that every Mass (and all the sacraments) are primarily celebrated by Christ Himself. That means that it is the whole body of Christ which is celebrating the liturgy, which includes the priest as well as the faithful and even those who have passed on. (1136) Though, we participate in that liturgical worship differently depending on our state in life either clergy or laity. (CCC 1140) What I love about the procession is that it really shows a number of different roles in liturgical worship and when everyone works together, we can produce something greater than the whole.

We have posted some photos on our Facebook page and in the bulletin. So, feel free to check them out. In the future, I plan to expand this Eucharistic procession to perhaps go outside our campus or to set up more altars on the property or to expand the number of people involved. So, stay tuned.

If attending this event inspires you to come to Eucharistic Adoration, we have it every Thursday from 9:30 am until 9 pm, with benediction.

Coming up in July, we are scheduled to have one of the privately owned Eucharistic Miracle displays set up for viewing in the school cafeteria. It will only be available to see for a short time, so please watch the bulletin for more information on viewing dates and times.

This has been a wonderful way to begin the years of Eucharistic Revival and I thank God for it.

God bless!

Fr. Carter
