Dear Parishioners,

I recently found this lovely prayer that I want to share with you. It is from the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. It is especially appropriate today since it is the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. It reads:

I believe, O Lord, and confess that though art truly Christ, the Son of the living God, who didst come into this world to save sinners, of whom I am the first.

O Son of God, receive me this day as a partaker of Thy mystical supper: for I will not reveal Thy mystery to Thine enemies, nor give Thee the kiss as did Judas, but like the thief I confess to Thee.

Remember me, O Lord, when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom.

Remember me, O Lord, when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom.

Remember me, O Lord, when Thou comest into Thy Kingdom.

Let not, O Lord, the partaking of Thy Holy Sacrament, be to me unto judgment, nor condemnation, but unto the healing of soul and body.

I believe and confess that this which I will receive, is verily, truly, Thy most pure Body itself and Thy true life-giving Blood itself: I pray deign to make me worthy to receive it unto the remission of all my sins, and life eternal, Amen.

This prayer is especially good to pray before Mass to focus on what happens at the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. May we always praise and adore our Lord who humbles Himself to come to us under the form of Bread and Wine.

God Bless!

Fr. Carter
