Dear Parishioners,
I have good news for the parish this week. A new priest has been assigned to be the Hospital Chaplain and Parochial Vicar here. His name is Fr. Michael DeSaye and he is currently stationed in St. Joan of Arc, Marlton. He was just ordained a priest last year and has really grown to love hospital ministry in Marlton. So, I hope this assignment will be a good fit for him.
I look forward to you all meeting him in July when he comes to this parish. But, in the mean time here is some basic biographical information about him. Fr. DeSaye was born in Newton and is the eldest child of four. He is from St. Benedict Parish in Holmdel and graduated from Holy Family School in Lakewood, Christian Brothers Academy in Lincroft and Ithaca College where he studied music and piano. Before entering seminary for the Diocese of Trenton, he first entered a monastery called St. Mary Abbey in Morris Township which is a Benedictine Community. He went to seminary at the Theological College at Catholic University of America in Washington, DC and earned his Masters of Divinity at Mount St. Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD.
Please keep Fr. DeSaye in your prayers as he finishes his first priestly assignment and prepares to come here. He will be the Chaplain of the Hospital, which as you all know, is a huge task for anyone. I was really doubting whether or not we would get another priest since there are no ordinations for the priesthood this year for our Diocese.
Please pray for priestly vocations, and thank the bishop for having this mercy on us.
God bless!
Father Carter
P.S. More news… Beginning Sunday, June 9th and ending Wednesday, June 12th, we are having a Parish Mission led by Catholic Lay Evangelist, Bill Wegner of Good News International. The thrust of the mission is to bring us into a closer walk with Our Lord Jesus. Please plan to be there, and bring a friend!
